Importance Of Kanipakam

The Varasiddhi Vinayaka temple is at a distance of 68 KM from Tirupati town. There is frequent bus facility available from Tirupati to reach this place. Many people take the darshan of the Swayambhu here before going to Tirupati as it is believed that Lord Vinayaka (Vignadhipathi) makes the travel easier by clearing all the troubles to be faced during the journey.

Significance:

Does the god exist? If anyone asks this question bring them here to see the answer with his or her own eyes.

The Idol of Lord Ganesha is being increased day by day. It is said that a silver armor offered to the Lord fifty years ago and another 15 years ago doesn’t fit the Idol now. The Nijaroopa Darshanam at 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM daily gives a glimpse of knees and abdomen of Lord Ganesha without any flower decorations.

It is believed that one would repent to the lies committed by them if they make false promises in front of the god here. Many addicts of alcohol and other are brought here to make the promise in front of the god to put a stop to their addiction.

The temple is constructed on the banks of Bahuda river by Chola King Kuluthunga Chola- I in the 11th century. This river is considered to have healing powers and devotees take the holy dip here to cure their chronic diseases.

History:

The temple history goes back to 1000 years where three brothers who are duff, dumb and blind lived in a village called Viharapuri. As the draught season approached these three brothers started digging the well in their farm to the certain depth where a big sized marble came across. To their shock, the marble was whooshing so much blood that whole place was flooded by it. When the blood touched the three brothers all their disabilities have miraculously vanished.

When the villagers heard the miracle, they thought of taking out the idol from the well and perform rituals but before taking out, the idol has come out in a swirling water.

The villagers offered coconuts to Lord Ganapathi and the water has flown over the whole farm thus acquiring the name Kani-Parakam which has changed into Kanipakam over a period.

Even today the idol is on the well which overflows during the rainy season and the water is offered to the devotees as Thirtham.

Kanipakam Temple Timings:
